The Governor’s latest attempt to help California out of its estimated $19 billion budget deficit was somewhat ironically announced on the eve of the 72nd anniversary of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) – which created the federal minimum wage standard and was implemented for the protection and benefit of workers.
A spokesman the state controller announced that the state will continue "paying employees their full salary" so as not to risk any potential violation of overtime and retirement-contribution laws.
